Job Summary: As an integral part of a systematic and comprehensive process of providing effective and high-quality student support services, the School Psychologist will assess student needs, design and implement mental health and behavioral interventions and programming, provide consultation for families, and participate in interdisciplinary approaches to mental health needs of students.
o Valid MN license for School Psychologist
Student and Parent Interaction:
o Conduct valid and reliable assessments for the purposes of identifying students eligibility for Special Education or Tier 2 services.
o Provide a continuum of mental and behavioral health services, where deemed necessary and appropriate, including counseling, behavioral coaching, positive behavioral supports, and parent education.
o Consult, collaborate, and communicate with parents and/or guardians regarding individual student needs, progress, recommendations, and home interventions.
o Use a consultative problem-solving approach for planning, implementing and evaluating instructional and mental/behavioral health services.
o Collaborate with other school personnel to create and maintain a multi-tiered continuum of services to support academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals for students.
o Coach applicable staff members on implementation of interventions and prescribed services for individual students, and on appropriate data collection methods.
o Participate in and lead professional development, staff meetings, teams, and committees as assigned.
o Evaluate implementation and efficacy of implementation of interventions, etc.
Data Management and Programming
o Create and manage implementation of prevention and intervention programs to address precursors to learning and behavioral problems.
o Systematically collect data from multiple pertinent sources and use ecological factors to determine student services.
o Utilize data to analyze progress toward meeting academic and behavior goals.
o Evaluate efficacy, validity, and fidelity in student interventions and programming.
o Evaluate need for modifications to school-based interventions and programming.
o Integrate behavioral supports and mental health services with academic and learning goals for students.
o Develop and implement behavior change programs at individual, group, classroom, and school wide levels.
o Report on data gathered as required by Minnesota Department of Education and other outside reporting agencies, and as requested by School Administration.
o Collaborate with other school personnel on creating Tier 2 supports.
o Other duties as assigned.

Special Education 1:1 Paraprofessional
Northern Lights Community School is currently seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraprofessional to assist in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream and resource room settings.
Special Education Paraprofessional Responsibilities:
Implement student lessons to meet learning objectives under direct supervision
Work directly with an individual student or student groups in daily classroom tasks, activities and assignments, monitoring and re-directing behaviors using appropriate communication and effective intervention strategies.
Implement positive student support plans as outlined and/or implementing behavior strategies outlined by the special education teacher (can include re-directing, calming or supporting replacement behaviors).
Monitor and/or recording student progress in instructional areas
Manage student physical needs when appropriate (can include toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.)
Carrying out the requirements of individual learning plans
Perform supervision of meal services, recess, and bus duties as assigned
Engage in constant reflective practices, individually and with peers, to improve the quality of your professional practice
Conduct portions of student evaluations (with training) to include: structured observations, daily student tracking, and/or teacher/student/parent interviews
Attendance at IEP and evaluation team meetings
Assist the special education teacher in planning and implementing special education curriculum
Assist the special education teacher in planning for modifying instruction of grade level content standards across curriculum
Participate in all licensed staff professional development
Attend all parent/teacher conferences for students with special needs
Respond to daily student needs when the special education teacher in otherwise engaged
Develop, implement, track, and critique interventions with students with special needs for their effectiveness
