May 1-5 NWEA MAP Testing (all grades) – this is a local test used by NLCS to assess growth levels in reading and math over the course of the school year.
For students first enrolled in grade 8 in 2012–2013 and later, the opportunity to participate in a nationally recognized college entrance exam (ACT or SAT) must be offered to students in grades 11 or 12 on a school day. The state will pay for one college entrance exam for each student. The ASVAB or Accuplacer may be used to substitute for the ACT/SAT to meet the state graduation requirements. These college entrance exams are offered locally throughout the school year. NLCS coordinates with the Grand Rapids School District, Itasca Community College, and the US Military to offer these tests to 11th and 12th grade students before they graduate.
